Allyson Morris is an emerging new talent on the Toronto jazz scene. Her vocals are sultry sweet, yet filled with a rich soulfulness. Whether performing a ballad or a swinging upbeat tune, she emotes passion in each and every note. Her delivery is extraordinary as she entwines her vocals in and around the dynamic music of her band.

Allyson was born and raised in Chatham, Ontario. Her early musical ear came from listening to the sounds of Motown Detroit Radio (CKLW), which played all of the admirable artists of the day. Also, at a very young age she was listening to her mother's vinyl jazz recordings of Dinah Washington, Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holiday and Nat King Cole. She has always had an eclectic ear and an open mind when it came to music, bringing Bluegrass, Gospel, Blues, Latin and African flavours into her world. Allyson, however, was always magically driven back to singing the sweet sounds of jazz and blues.

Allyson's talents have also led her to producing, arranging and providing back-up vocals on various musical ventures. She has recently gained a following as the Wednesday night chanteuse of Whistler's Grille. Featured players have included Mark Teixeira (guitar), Martin Aucoin (keys), Victor Bateman (bass), Paul Fitterer (drums), Eric Soostar (bass), John Yelland (bass) and Henry Hellig (bass).

Watch for Allyson's debut CD "Love Is A Moment In Time."
